A recent article in the Sunday Herald Sun by reporter Hamish Heard discussed the rush of new wave of Greek migrants to Melbourne due to the Greek financial crisis and dismal economy which is driving away workers who are in search of jobs in Australia.

- DIAC advised they expect a 65% increase in Greek Migrants this financial year
- The number of Greeks arriving on short term visa has seen a 21% increase last year on 2009 figures
- Melbourne is home to 300,000 Greeks who mainly migrated in the 1950’s and 60’s
